Scholastic Art and Writing Awards: Southeast Art Region At Large

STEPS TO ENTER
1. Sign up
Create an account at artandwriting.org/login to submit your work to the 2019 Scholastic Awards. (You can also use the same login if you submitted previously, just update your profile to your current grade level)
2. Create and Upload Your Work
The Scholastic Awards look for work that demonstrates originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. After you have created your work, you can upload it to your Scholastic Awards Account. Once you have logged in, follow the instructions to upload all of your submissions into the system.
Every category has specific requirements so please read the Guidelines and Category Descriptions carefully. Note that you will need your educator's email address.
3. Send in the Required Forms
After uploading your work, print your submission forms and have a parent or guardian and an educator sign them. Submit the form(s) and fee(s) following the instructions on the Submission Form and the guidelines below. Please carefully read through the instructions as you go through the registration process.
4. Submission Fee
The submission fees are $5 per individual submission and $20 per portfolio submission (for graduating seniors only - a series of 8 pieces with including an artist statement).

While completing their submission, indicate which award(s) they would like their work to be considered for, and complete any additional requirements.

CATEGORIES
Photography
Description: Images captured by either an analog or digital camera.
Examples (including but not limited to)Black and white photographs, color photographs, digital or analog photographs, photograms, other experimental photography, etc.)
Special Instructions
Submitting multiple similar images from the same series of photographs is highly discouraged. Part of the submission process to the Awards is determining which image best fulfills the Scholastic Awards criteria: originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal vision.
You can upload one image for each Photography submission.

Digital Art
Description: Computer-generated artwork OR artwork captured digitally and heavily collaged or manipulated to produce a new image.
The production of digital art relies heavily upon computer software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, GIMP, Macromedia Freehand, CorelDraw, or other graphics editing programs. Examples (including but not limited to)Digital collages, photo manipulation, digital painting, and fractal art.

You can upload one image for each Digital Art submission.

- NOTE: At the end of your registration, please select to print and mail your form and Foxcroft School will cover the submission fee for two individual entries per student and one portfolio per senior.

CATEGORIES
Photography
Description: Images captured by either an analog or digital camera.
Examples (including but not limited to)Black and white photographs, color photographs, digital or analog photographs, photograms, other experimental photography, etc.)
Special Instructions
- Identify type of photographic techniques used in the “List Materials” section of online registration.
- Editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Corel PaintShop Photo Pro, Photo Explosion, etc.) is acceptable to use for minor touch-ups and image correction in a manner that replicates traditional darkroom techniques (cropping, dodging, burning, adjusting brightness, contrast, color balance, etc.).
- Works that are digitally collaged, cloned, layered, merged, distorted, or heavily manipulated with computer software must be submitted in the Digital Art category.
- Each work submitted to the photography category should be a distinct image that presents a unique artistic vision.

Special Instructions
- Identify computer software used in the “List Materials” section of the online submission form.
- Digital artwork may contain text, but submissions that contains text for commercial purposes should be entered in the Design category.
- Digital photgraphs that are “touched up” or lightly manipulated using computer software should be entered in the Photography category.
- Consider submitting to the Video Game Design category or Future New category if your work has a strong interactive element.
