Photography I Students experience a comprehensive curriculum that teaches the basics of digital photography using a DSLR camera. The major areas covered are camera operations, shooting techniques, photo software, and printing. An emphasis is placed upon learning to produce a high quality photograph with a full range of values, as well as good expertise in all steps of the photographic process. The works of famous photographers are discussed and the fine art possibilities of this medium are also explored. Photography II Prerequisite: Photography I Students build upon the basic skills learned in Photography I and further explore the fine art possibilities of digital photography. Emphasis is placed on the mastery of those skills combined with the introduction and experimentation of image control and manipulation by means of lighting techniques, camera use, image editing software, and printing techniques. Students are encouraged to use self-expression to personalize imagery. Enrollment must be authorized by the photography teacher and depends on Photo I enrollment. Advanced Photography Prerequisite: Photography II or Instructor’s permission This course allows students to continue working with the photographic skills developed during Photography II. The content is very individualized and the instructor works closely with each student. Several specialized techniques such as High Dynamic Resolution (HDR), dramatic over or under exposure techniques, and the panoramic process are a few that will be explored to encourage the advanced student to work outside their comfort zone.
