How do I use Mind Mapping to begin a project?
STEP 1 - define the creative problem that you want to solve
What message do you want to convey? How do you want to convey it?
What purpose do you want it to serve? How do you want it to look?
FORM VS FUNCTION

STEP 2 - start with a main idea in the center and then branch out into related topics - get more and more narrow to create a web of connections
Examples:
SOCIAL FUNCTION - addresses aspects of (collective) life, as opposed to one person's point of view or experience, enhances the shared sense of identity of those within a family, community, or civilization - EXAMPLE: Activist Art, Political Propaganda, Ceremonial Art

Mind Map + Digital Portfolio:
- Photograph your mindmap and upload it to your project planning page on your Digital Portfolio.
- Further develop your ideas with investigative research and more thorough descriptions and visuals.
- Create an outline with the following information to explore 2-3 possible directions for your final project.
- Message: Write a direct statement that embodies the FUNCTION, purpose, or meaning of your project
- Metaphor: List all of the possible subject matter that can symbolize your underlying message or meaning
- Research: Get information on your topic and/or or medium to deepen your understanding (include sources)
- Examples: Save images that visually represent your ideas and the FORM your project could take (include sources)
- Save any image files and links on your digital portfolio page.
