2019 Juried Photography Exhibition: Virginia is for Art Lovers
INSTRUCTIONS
- Make a copy of this poem starter to begin writing about what inspires you the most about Virginia. Please modify as you see fit.
- Your shooting assignment will be to visualize 5 things that inspire you about Virginia.
- Complete the Previsualization exercise at the bottom of the poetry prompt to brainstorm concepts for each shoot.
- You are required to complete at least 5 photo shoots of twenty or more images (3 in-class, and 2 at-home).
- The deadline is Friday, March 1st.
- Your strongest image will be selected to submit in the 2019 Juried Student Art Exhibit at the Artists in Middleburg Gallery.
- The entry fee is $20, which is also due by March 1st. This covers the cost of your 8x10 print, 11x14 mat and frame, along with the gallery fee.
- If you choose not to participate, please notify me no later than Friday, March 22nd so that your spot can be filled by another photographer.
- We are scheduled to hang the exhibit on Thursday, March 21st and Friday, March 22nd from 1:00-3:00pm.
- The opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 23rd from 1:00-3:00pm. The show will close on Sunday, March 31st.
- Local parent volunteers will be requested to donate food or time for gallery sitting.
2019 Photography Exhibition: Focus! Arts in Education
The Artists in Middleburg has had the privilege of working with various schools, including Claude Thompson Elementary, Foxcroft, and Middleburg Montessori.
In April, 2018, AiM hosted an exhibition, "FOCUS! Arts in Education for the pupils to showcase their art. The sales proceeds of the student's work was given back to the schools. In March 2019, AiM again will host work from students of these schools during the National Youth Art Month.
From 2017-today, AiM has supplemented the art programs at Claude Thompson Elementary and Middleburg Montessori by proving guest instructors who will teach a variety of subjects/mediums and supplies. Recently an anonymous "angel" donor provided art supplies needed by both schools for the 2018-19 school year.
AiM plans to continue our collaboration with these schools to further support the importance of incorporating the arts into every child's education. Art Matters!
