ELIGIBILITY A student may apply to participate in the Academic Concentrations program in the spring of her first year at Foxcroft (usually freshman year), and eligibility is reviewed annually.
To be eligible, a student must:
Have a proven record of motivation and achievement
Demonstrate competency in the Concentration
Requirements to earn the Academic Concentration diploma designation vary from discipline to discipline but generally include the following:
Rigorous course work at a high level of achievement
Internships each year that a student is enrolled
Annual commitment to community service in the concentration field
Independent study and/or a capstone project
In some instances, a student who enters Foxcroft after her freshman year may be eligible to transfer courses, internships, and community service from another school in order to meet the requirements; final approval for transfer credits rests with the department chair and Academic Dean.
Each Concentration student is required to maintain a Foxcroft Digital Portfolio detailing important Concentration-related coursework, projects, and internships. Make sure your Digital Portfolio is shared with your mentorswhen you create it. Mentors will check your progress each school year, and portfolios will be evaluated at the end of the senior year with your artist talk and presentation of your One Woman Art Exhibit (see below)

This should be a brief personal statement that introduces your audience to your portfolio.
Resume (See Sample below)
Beneath the EXPERIENCE section on your resume, you should have the most details outlining the following:
Internships, trips, and service projects
Any internships must have a completed Internship Log accompanying them. For trips or service projects, use the same format to log your hours and any progress you made.
For each section, complete a reflection on what you learned or gained from the experience, including photos if possible.
Club leadership/membership
Detail what you did with your club and highlight your specific contributions, including photos if possible.
Fine Arts Courses (Ex: Photography, Ceramics, Studio Art, Yearbook, STEAM Tech, Theater, etc..)
Include a separate page for each of the media you approached in your time at Foxcroft. Remember for your concentration you are required to have at least two different areas within the arts represented in your course selections.
Each course should include a drop down for pages outlining your Portfolio and Research connected to that media. Add pictures, descriptions, and/or links to any particularly meaningful projects or assignments that relate to work you created or used as inspiration as you develop your portfolio.
Portfolio
Only include your most professional and creative work - filter out unsuccessful or incomplete work at the start of each semester.
Additional sub pages can outline certain aspects of your portfolio. Ex: Photography > Portfolio > Still Life, Portraiture, Landscape, Nature, Architecture, Photojournalism.
Research
Include artist inspiration with captions connected to every image (author, title, year) and a source with all of your research (hyperlinks are acceptable).
Also, additional sub pages can outline your research focus. For example: Photography > Research > Photographer's Name, Career Field, Photography Genre,..etc
This page will be dedicated to your quarterly reflections. You can write about your progress in the Concentration, any challenges you encountered, and what you have learned.
Reflect of your specific accomplishments in both portfolio and research development within your concentration area. Be sure each statement is dated.
Your mentor will read your reflections and incorporate them into his or her quarterly Concentration comments.
One Woman Art Exhibit(THIS IS YOUR FINAL CONCENTRATION PROJECT TO BE COMPLETED SENIOR YEAR)
You should devote at least one page to your final exhibit as a graduating senior. Together with your mentor, you will determine an appropriate selection of work and thematic approach to your display.
You will create promotional materials to advertise your exhibit and write a detailed artist statement outlining your creative process.
The final step will be preparing an artist talk about your One Woman Art Exhibit, which will also need to be posted on this page. Link to the Concentration Rubric for easy access.
Other pages: Feel free to create additional pages linked to other coursework or noteworthy information about your experiences.
NOTE: On your Google Drive, you should create a folder named LASTNAME Foxcroft Digital Portfolio where you need to move this Google Site and also store all of the relevant images and documents that are uploaded here. Share this folder with your Concentration Mentor and Fine Arts Department Chair.
